The project „Waiting Room for Singles“ was held in a small room as part of Basel‘s
monthly models, combining a waiting room with a platform for singles to connect.
The installation featured the basic structure of a typical waiting room, with chairs
and magazines. To enhance the experience, I added plants, jungle sounds, and
green lighting, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a tropical paradise. This
setting
encouraged visitors to feel instinctive and free, transforming the often
awkward experience of waiting into something engaging.
Visitors filled out questionnaires that prompted reflections on their personalities
and allowed them to share contact details. As the exhibition progressed, the
completed questionnaires were displayed on the walls, creating a visual dialogue
and raising the question: Who seeks whom?
By embracing the humor of this scenario, „Waiting Room for Singles“ aimed to
foster meaningful connections and turn waiting into an opportunity for spontaneous
interactions.
