I focused on the beauty ideals of Latina women, particularly how many pursue
surgical enhancements that push the boundaries of the female form. This
exploration of extreme body culture is culturally stimulating and invites deeper
reflection.
In response, I created a trophy sculpture that embodies this celebration of body
culture. It symbolizes the obsession with appearance and the pressures we
experience in striving for these ideals. Beauty can often reflect the zeitgeist,
becoming a trend shaped by societal influences.
Through this piece, I hope to provoke thought about how beauty standards shape
our identities and perceptions of self. My aim is to spark a conversation about the
diverse ideals of beauty across cultures and their impact on our understanding of
the body in today‘s society.
